From a coaching network to a culture-transformation company: how a simple conviction, that people grow through engaging conversations, kept proving itself.
The Empowerment Coaching Network is founded by Tim Cosby and Mike McGervey, out of a desire to equip leaders with coaching conversation skills that empower others to set goals and own their choices. Professional coach certification has run every year since.
A college president says yes. After attending our 2-day coach training, he invites us to bring empowerment coaching to his campus. We eventually train over 170 students, faculty, and staff to coach.
The retention proof lands. As coaching spreads across campus, it reaches underperforming students. Freshman retention climbs from about 62% when we started to 80% by spring 2016.
Business leaders become the focus. We concentrate on training managers in Conversational Management, and add Conversational Selling to complement it.
Everything goes live online. In early 2020 we convert all training to live online delivery. The discovery-learning format survives the move intact.
